SPARKLING CHRISTMAS ILLUMIINATIONS PLANNED FOR WINDSOR AND ETON
Friday November 21st is the date; Windsor and Eton Town centres come alive and begin the Christmas season. On the seasonal menu are a generous portion of Christmas events and activities – all-action fun and games as the town celebrates the busiest time of its social calendar. The glittering line-up tempting tourists and residents alike into town provides a mouth-watering feast of Christmas “specials” – • Eton Christmas illumination switch on, Windsor Bridge - Friday 21 November from 5.30pm - Robin Gibb will be in attendance to help switch on Eton lights this year, along with the Eton College band and pupils from Eton Porney. Arriving by Sleigh will be Santa and the opportunity to have your own personal husky sleigh ride throughout the evening. • Windsor Christmas illumination switch on, Castle Hill - Saturday 22 November from 5pm - Following the traditional children’s lantern procession through the town centre. All attention will turn to the Main stage outside Windsor Castle for a traditional programme of carols and Christmas songs from a host of local groups. Along with the Mayor of Windsor Jack Ellis – plays Harry Mason in Coronation Street and Captain Hook in the Theatre Royal Pinto Peter Pan will be switching on the lights in Windsor. • Reindeer parade Saturday 6 December (2 pm) – with live reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh. Parade starts at Windsor Castle, Castle Hill, going down St Albans Street behind the Guildhall, back up High Street and down Peascod Street to the Post Office. Visitors can have their photos taken on the sleigh with Santa (cost £6.00, with a proportion of their proceeds going to support the town’s Christmas programme). • Breakfast with Santa – starting Saturday December 6 – every Saturday and Sunday at Café Rouge in Royal Windsor Shopping – to pre-book go to the website www.windsorroyalshopping.co.uk. Paul Roach, Windsor and Eton town manager, said: “We really would like to make christmas special this year, we have a number of major Christmas events taking place in Windsor and Eton which will create a fantastic festive atmosphere. There really will be something for all ages to enjoy, so I hope people will come and bring the town alive and help us to spread Christmas cheer.” |
