Don't you just love it when your phone says ... This is a free call ...
Just got back in my office after a meeting … on the way back go stuck in a 30 min jam on the M4/A33 Reading roundabout … what a pain in the rear that is … like banger racing! So feeling a little harassed … Sit down, check my email, phone rings … stand up to pick the phone off the charger … I say hello … it says “This is a free call…” I put down the phone with a few expletives and then reflect. That ain’t no FREE call … it cost me 30 seconds of my life and so has a value … and that is too sodding much in my opinion. I think I’ll have a word with someone who charges £10k a day for their time and see if they can answer the call and listen to it for the duration … say it’s 5 minutes long and they work 500 mins a day … that’s like 1% of their day wasted = £100 x 3 for calming down! Then we take the firm making the free calls to court and for everyone who answer the call and didn’t want it they get awarded £300 compensation for the intrusion. If there is a human being at the end of the call then they can politely introduce themselves and you can politely decline … you don’t mind … BUT THESE FREE CALLS !!!!!!!!! Breathe...
